With so many beaches in Cornwall it is hard to decide on which one to go to. When you are on holiday with babies and toddlers, you will want to spend time on a beach that has everything you need and you don’t have to travel too far to get to. Then you can enjoy the sea air and sunshine and let the kids be entertained with water and plentiful sand!
We surveyed the team at Porthleven Holiday Cottages (between us we’ve had a fair few toddlers) and these are our recommendations for baby and toddler friendly beach near to Porthleven:
An obvious one! Our very own Porthleven beach is a sandy delight! The life guarded beach is great for a low tide paddle with your toddler. There are plenty of rock pools to explore and of course only a short walk to the nearest ice-cream shop at Nauti-But-Ice. Let the kids clamber the rocks and pretend to be captains of their own ships!
With parking close by and a cafe right on the beach, it is the perfect place to spend a day. The sandy beach has cliffs on either side, sheltering it on breezy days. The river winding down to the sea is full of pebbles churned over by the sea. The sandy beach is splendid for sandcastle building and to the left of the beach is a lovely inlet and cave. Great for little imaginations!
A lovely sandy beach with plenty of amenities. Surfboard and wetsuit hire, a cafe serving lunch and ice-cream and The Sand Bar, bar and restaurant right on the beach. There is ample all day parking near the beach so not far to go with all your beach clobber.
This is a huge stretch of beach well worth a day exploring. Enjoy gorgeous views of St Michael’s Mount and even take the walkway across to the mount at low tide and enjoy a rockpool ramble. On windy days it is perfect for kite flying and on warmer days perfect for paddling in the shallows.
