Porthleven is the perfect place to visit in October half term. Days can be blissfully calm and perfect for the beach or you could find yourself watching a fierce storm roll in across the Atlantic Ocean. Whatever the weather, there is plenty to do to keep everyone occupied. Enjoy pumpkin carving, frightful Halloween experiences and apple days!

Entertain the kids with plenty of activities at our local National Trust properties. Enjoy a wholesome day out exploring the outdoors, get involved in pumpkin carving and collecting apples for the apple press.
Godolphin House National Trust – Find out about the apple harvest, take a walk on the barefoot trail and enjoy apple themed games.
Trengwainton National Trust – Play autumn colour spotting and see how many you can tick off, collect fallen apples or guess the weight of the pumpkin. Treat yourself to some Trengwainton-grown apples and squash (while stocks last), a warming soup or hot chocolate in the café or something special from the shop.
Trelissick Gardens – A wonderful place to visit any time of year! Explore the house and gardens and take a walk down to the Fal River banks before heading to the café for delicious lunch.
Enjoy Trick or Treat Week at Flambards with lots of activities on offer. Buy a ticket and return as many times as you like for 7 days. 25th October is the annual fireworks display.
If you are happy to travel a little further afield, visit the Eden Project this half term. The Halloweden events over October half term for plenty of fun in the biomes.
If you love Cornish culture and heritage this is one not to miss. Taking place over three days from 26th-29th October at various locations in Redruth. An international gathering of performers celebrating Cornish culture and its Celtic connections.
Spooky storytelling and a Halloween Quest will keep the little ones entertained at Pendennis Castle and a tour around the castle will get imaginations running wild.
Hire an electric bike from Porthleven and see the countryside! Located in Porthleven Shipyard, Ride-on-Bikes have a variety of bikes for all ages. They offer heaps of advice on where to go and cycle trails. Plus, if you make it all the way to Penzance you can drop your bike off at their Penzance branch and get the open top bus back!
Join in with the eerie shadow pirate puppet stories and songs in the Main Hall, create your own shadow puppets in Make & Take, and join the Museum trail to find out what our pirate ghost uncovers lurking on his ghoulish ship!
