Indulge in a winter family getaway in Cornwall this February Half Term!

Cornwall is not always an obvious choice for a winter holiday but we love winter in Cornwall.

Winter in Cornwall is all about the elements – wind, sun, storms and sometimes rain too! Whatever the weather, wrap up warm and get outdoors with the kids. The Cornish beaches are great for beachcombing for objects of fascination that the sea has washed up on stormy days. Go for long walks and come back to a local cafe for hot chocolate. It’s a great opportunity to spend family time together without distractions!

Porthleven offers a lot to winter visitors – it is alive with cafes and award-winning restaurants for all tastes, the beach is open to dogs and its a wonderful location for storm watching. If you love storm watching you could catch the spectacle of an Atlantic storm battering the harbour of Porthleven.

Penrose Estate and coastal paths

Great for cycling and walking the Penrose estate is a network of walking and cycle paths from Porthleven to Helston. You can hire bikes at the Helston boating lake and cycle to Porthleven for lunch then ride back. Or you can walk the circular path along the coast path to Loe Bar and then head inland through the forested Penrose estate.
