Once again we delve into the dramatic scenes in the life of Ross Poldark (Aiden Turner) and Demelza Poldark (Eleanor Tomlinson) in the BBC adaptation of Winston Graham’s Poldark novels. It’s an on screen feast for the eyes with viewers tucking in to smouldering good looks and dramatic Cornish scenery. It is no wonder so many people are visiting Cornwall for the Poldark experience.
Series 2 promises to bring just as much drama, moody Cornish seascapes and the beautiful views of beaches and moorlands that we recognise. Visit Cornwall have a dedicated blog to the series with a map to help you find the filming locations.
If you fancy a diving tour of the South West Cornwall coast to visit some of the film locations near Porthleven, we’ve listed a few below to help you on your Poldark adventure:
Poldark film locations and experiences near Porthleven holidays:
Gunwalloe Cove
In Series 1 Gunwalloe Cove was the location of the night time wrecking scene and in Series 2 it is the scene of the welcome party after Ross Poldark is acquitted of his charges at Bodmin Jail.
Kynance Cove
It is not the first time this beach has seen A List celebrities. Seen in Poldark series 1 and 2 and also filmed here was ‘And then there were None’ with Charles Dance.
Porthgwarra beach
If you’ve watched the first series you will recognise this as the location of the scene where Ross Poldark takes a swim watched on from the cliff tops by his wife to be, Demelza. Beautiful little sandy cove and lovely blue sea near the Lizard.
Porthcurno
Perfect white sand and turquoise sea make this beach the ideal location for Poldark’s Nampara Cove. Visit the cliff top and look down from the Minack Theatre.
Predannack Wollas
A perfect place to feel the wind through your hair and image yourself on riding on horseback in idyllic Cornish countryside. This windswept headland was the location of Poldark’s many dramatic horseback rides.
Botallack and Levant mine
Located on the wild cliffs of Cornwall near Zennor, these two mines are of the the mining heritage of Cornwall – a World Heritage Site.
Levant Mind plays fictional Tressiders Rolling Mill and Botallack is Ross Poldark’s troublesome Wheal Leisure mine.
