Bring your dog with you on holiday to Porthleven, any time of year! Watching the world go by on the Porthleven harbour head, walkies on the coast path, running for miles on one of Cornwall’s many dog friendly beaches are just some of the things your dog will love. From coast to country and fireside to forest there is plenty of exploring to do. Porthleven is the perfect place for a holiday with your dog!
Your dog will love the south west coast path which runs past Porthleven and towards Penrose Estate. There are breathtaking views for walkers and dogs will enjoy the variety of ground, new smells and perhaps even meet a few sheep along the way. Beware of steep cliffs! The Penrose Estate extends all the way to Helston through a beautiful walk through the forest next to Loe Bar.
Built on the harbour side in the 1700s, The Ship Inn, in Porthleven, is the perfect place to cosy up in front of the fire and watch a storm raging in the outer harbour and out to sea. This dog friendly pub offers a friendly atmosphere and great food and beer. Feel the wind through your hair.
Trebah Gardens and Trengwainton Gardens are both close by and dog friendly. We love the open spaces any time of year. Trebah Gardens have designated doggie tables in Trebah Kitchen, so dog lovers can sit together. Trengwainton has gorgeous sea views from the terrace.
Many of the attractions in Cornwall are dog friendly. We’ve taken our four legged friends to The Gweek Seal Sanctury, Minack Theatre (during visiting hours and not performances), Pendennis Castle in Falmouth and Lands End, and we have both had a lovely time!
Take to the beach on a calm day and enjoy gentle waves lapping on tranquil shores. Our favourite dog friendly beach walk is from Porthleven towards Loe Bar at low tide. On a windy day the beach is stunning too! There are other beaches nearby that your dog will love too such as Praa Sands and Marazion towards Penzance.
