Here are our top cultural events happening in 2018.
2nd – 5th March
St Piran, is the patron saint of both Cornwall and tin miners. He was a 5th century Cornish Abbot, originally from Ireland. The 3rd is St Piran’s Day but in Cornwall it is a whole weekend of family celebration!
31st March
The largest mechanical puppet ever made will rise again in 2018. From 1st April it will tour cultural sites of Cornwall.
20-22nd April
Cornwall’s most popular food festival that draws around 30,000 people to the port of Porthleven for a free weekend of food demos from international chefs, cultural events, kids entertainment, music and fun.
15th March – 2nd April
A week of family and cultural events across Falmouth taking place during the Easter holidays.
8th May – Tuesday
A traditional celebration of Spring where the market town of Helston (just 3 miles from Porthleven) comes alive with activity. See the houses and streets adorned with spring flowers and traditional Flora Dance taking place in the streets of the town.
11-13 May
Food market, stalls, cooking demonstrations all on the beautiful Porthminster beach! Make your experience even more unique and arrive by train from St Erth – this piece of track is recognised by many as one of the most scenic in the UK.

30 sailors…30,000 miles non-stop…Alone…With no outside assistance
The Golden Globe Race fleet will arrive in Falmouth and a series of events for yachting enthusiasts ensues. Stepping back to the Golden Age of solo sailing. To celebrate Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s historic 1968/9 world first solo non-stop circumnavigation in the Sunday Times Golden Globe Yacht Race, a new Golden Globe Race will be staged to mark the 50th Anniversary of that epic, starting from Falmouth on June 14th, 2018.

A celebration of Summer, the tradition of Golowan and Mazey Day was resurrected in 1991 by local art and cultural organisations. Now a full spectacle that is well worth joining in. Get involved to see music, dance, theatre, parades and heaps of entertainment for all ages,

Free sea shanty performances are hosted in multiple venues across Falmouth, filling the town with music and song. A wonderful experience and fabulous atmosphere with a by-gone-days feeling making this international festival the most popular of its kind.
Sunday, 19th August.
Every year the Penlee Lifeboat entertains crowds of people on the harbour and quaysides of Porthleven. A fantastic day out for families and children are enthralled by the display from the lifeboat and helicopter rescue team.
10 Aug 2018 to 19 Aug 2018
Originally a regatta which over the years has turned into a week long festival of entertainment. The highlights are The Red Arrows display team and up to seven days of racing in the Falmouth harbour.

August Bank Holiday fun with Chefs demonstrations and entertainment for two days

The perfect way to end the summer – the two week celebration of music and arts in St Ives including live music, open studios, exhibitions and guided walks plus lots more to come.
